I’ve walked this road
For all my life, I’ve
Walked and walked and
Walked; with that single
Tree along the way as my
Only steadfast company.
The skies were never
Cloudless and the rain
Would often wash
Away all the tears I cried
Unseen, alone & rushed
No matter if I set a sprint
Or strolled along, so slow
Spirit seemed to remain
Indifferent to the pace
Of my pleas and rows;
It’d always just come
Down to the one very
Same thing: that eternal
Question from above,
My love, when will you
Let me in?
I’ve heard that voice
So oft’ before, ignored
It many times; always
Convinced I was still
Searching for the
Diamonds in the mine
Yet now as I walk down
The same old road again,
I know the mines are
Empty, I know the
Theirs are spent, I know
The only muse was
Really just a man
And all I long for now
Is to walk beside him
Every day, the clouds
Can stay, so can the rain,
And the rosemary bush
Along the way can
Prove great company
For pleasure or for pain
As I vow never to be
Just on my own again
